Participatory research on liveability and mobility in diverse Rotterdam neighbourhoods, identifying underlying needs to broaden perspectives on the mobility transition and its human-centered requirements.
The process involved co-designing future visions for desired neighbourhoods, focusing on social, environmental, and health aspects, shaped by the community’s unique aspirations.
Summary
Process

This approach sought to revitalise the municipality's way of working within neighbourhoods; by embedding co-creation practices and translating citizen needs and desires into actionable plans.
Serving for the entire municipality: as a more cross-departmental, community-driven way of working.
Process
Result
The co-creation sessions with youth, seniors, and families in two Rotterdam neighbourhoods engaged residents as active co-thinkers.
Together, we explored their everyday mobility experiences and challenges. We collaboratively shaped future visions for more inclusive and accessible neighbourhoods.

Expo set-up
These visions are expressed in neighbourhoods' expositions, providing valuable insights into next steps regarding policy plans while assessing residents’ willingness to embrace change.
